	INSTALLING REPRINT

All commands below are followed by the Enter key.
You may wish to make a copy of the distribution diskette before use.
Do NOT write protect the distribution floppy diskette (the install
program writes to it). It may be re-used later for a re-install.
In the steps below, the setup program installs the software for
Windows in the subdirectory and drive of your choosing. It also
builds an icon in a new group 'REPRINT'.

To setup SEDONA Systems' REPRINT software:

	1. Insert the diskette into a floppy drive

	2. In Windows:

		a) Pull down the File menu and release on Run.

		b) Type:

a:\setup.exe (or b:\setup) to run setup program.

		c) Choose a home directory (C:\REPRINT is the default
			directory. Don't choose C:\).

		d) Check any combination of checkboxes for the software
you wish to install on your hard drive.

		e) Choose Setup or Cancel.

		f) Click COMPLETE when prompted.

	3. To run the program under WINDOWS, double click the REPRINT or
		Chat icon.

	NOTE:

The first time REPRINT is run, you will be asked to fill out
information on the Modem Information screen. This information is
stored in a file called 'reprint.cfg'. Once this is done, you may
change the file's contents by choosing the Configure option in the
	REPRINT program.

You need to know what comm port number and interrupt number your
modem has been mechanically or electronically set for. With PCMCIA
modems found in portable computers, you most often need to install
software that sets the comm port number for the modem.

Each modem is shipped with a booklet that tells the user how to set
its jumpers and/or dip switches. It gives pictures and a reference
table. Each comm port number corresponds to a group of proper jumper
settings. Therefore, study the manual's table, decide which comm
port to select, set the jumpers, and install the modem in the PC.

If you have the wrong comm port selected, the error message will
say "Can't open Comm Port". Click OK and choose a different comm
port. Click Accept when changes have been made.

If your serial mouse uses the same interrupt as your modem, a
conflict will arise. Make sure the mouse and the modem use different
interrupts. Using different comms is not sufficient. COM1 and COM3
are different, but use the same interrupt. Different interrupts may
can be easily acquired by using an even comm # for one component
and an odd comm # for the other.

Some modems (U.S. Robotics, for example) use an array of switches that
are visible when the modem is installed and the computer cover is in
place. The dip switches are described in your modem's manual.
Below is the preferred configuration (for US Robotics):

		SWITCH # DIRECTION FUNCTION
			1 off Use DTR
			2 off Verbal Results
			3 on Display Result codes
			4 on Suppress Echoes
			5 on Auto Answer Disabled
			6 off Use Carrier Detect
			7 on Load Factory Configuration
8 on Recognize AT commands (smart)

If the modem won't initialize, the configuration process will be
repeated. Click OK. Make changes to any of the following items:

		MODEM
		Speed
		Comm Port

If an error message occurs stating "Failed to Re-initialize the
Modem", then the comm port may be correct and the init string or
	baud rate may be incorrect.

Choose the MODEM button. Find your modem from the list and choose
Accept. If your modem does not appear on the list, choose High Speed
Generic Modem or Low Speed Generic Modem. Click Accept.

Click Accept when all changes have been made. If the modem won't
initialize, choose a higher or lower baud rate. Click Accept.

To customize a modem initialization string from your modem manual's
approved commands section, keep in mind the following:

All MNP and other compression should be OFF.
Error correction should be turned ON with high speed modems.
Error correction should be turned OFF with low speed modems.
Speed negotiation should be turned ON with high speed modems.
Speed negotiation should be turned OFF with low speed modems.
All modems should have the ability to dial out (s11=70).
All modems should have some dial tone perception (x4).
All modems should have proper answering ability (s0=0).
