Here are some notes on my 765D. The 765D was a large-chassis 760 with a bigger screen. It was paving the way for the much larger 770-series.

Here is the 765D which I own, which has had some troubles with the screen (occassionally the LCD will power on and off continually - a fault I can't seem to tie down. The 765D was a quick-shot upgrade to the 760-series before it was replaced. Most notibly the screen grew from the original 10.4" or 12.1" TFT to 13.3" - which required a much larger chassis than the other 760 machines. Seeing as the 200+ Mhz 770 was released in October 1997, there was considerable overlap in the 765D being sold for almost an entire year at the same time in the final year of the 76X series.

Here is the 765D in all it's glory:

For context, I lined up the 765D alongside the original slim 760L (left or top) and the super-fat 770Z (right or bottom). Fro the final three pictures of the machines sitting ontop of each other, you can see that  the765D is distinctly larger than the slimline 760L (which was thinner than most of the 760-series due to it's omission of an optical drive) and shares virtually the same port and socket layout, but still much smaller than the giant 770Z.
